Chat with Coach

NVL Blog: You have one of the best quarterbacks in the NVL in junior Jason Bradley. As a coach who has developed plenty of great quarterbacks, what has impressed you about Bradley?

Coach Bruno: “Not only is he performing on the field, but he performs in the huddle and off the field. He’s a natural-born leader. He has ability and character. The passing game is the strength of our team right now. Bryan Coney and Ryne Griesenauer have been playing pretty well. We have a few other guys who can make plays, too, but they’re going to highlight the offense.”

NVL Blog: With so many good offenses in the league, what can we expect from your defense?

Coach Bruno: “They’ve done well. They’re coming along. Jordan Hopkins is tough in the middle and we have some other guys doing well. We have a long way to go, there’s no doubt, but I think we’ll be OK.”

NVL Blog: It has been a long time since Naugatuck has consistently played competitive football against Ansonia on Thanksgiving. Do you have a sense for the importance of bringing back the rivalry’s mystique?

Coach Bruno: “I got a sense about it when I was hired. I did know the history of the rivalry and I know what the task is, but we have to get there first. But I do want everybody to know how seriously I’ll be treating that game.”

  1. I like how Bruno still rocks the Bunnell-colored Nike’s.

Good luck to Naugy this year.
